Help with dating $20.00 note please.

Wondering if someone could help me date an Australian $20.00 note please.

The only thing I know about currency is how to spend it. I've Googled but can't find the correct information.

Paper, not polymer.

Charles Kingsford Smith / Lawrence Hargrave.

Signatures: H.M. Knight / John Stone.

Serial # VGR 000011

Hi noddylives, it is a 1979 ORC- B side thread general prefix, The value depends on condition

Catalogue Values are

Fine $38

VF $80

EF $$170

aUNC $$250

UNC $350

Plus 000011 is a very low serial number & would be likely to attract a bit of a premium,given that catalogue values are just a guide a note collector may pay $100 to $200 if it's in pretty good condition.

1979 R407a $20 Knight-Stone

It's not so much the date that is of importance to collectors on these but more the signatures and whether they are first issue prefix or last issue prefix. And of course the condition, especially if they are uncirculated, makes them much more desirable for collectors.

First prefix - XVA Last prefix - VGX

I appreciate you both answering my question.

I collect books and found it in a book about the history of the bank of NSW, along with a with compliments slip from the

Bank Manager - it's a keeper and the note has been used. I never get tired of finding 'things' in books.
