Paypal hold cash of mine, which they will not release unless I send them prove of who I am. By demanding that I email them drivers license aand birth certificates etc. Which I will not do due to privacy concerns. The cash they hold are from Ebay sales. Paypal will not give me my money and unless I supply the information the require before 180 days, Paypal will keep the cash.

Personally I will not trade on Ebay any more if this is the way Paypal is going to go.

I believe that my private data is mine and will not share it with any online business unless I know where it goes and where it is stored.

Paypal and Ebay customers stand warned, I have learned a expensive lesson.

Be especially aware of the possiblility of getting malware in your computer if you've clicked on any links in the email.

There comes a time when you will have to verify your identity with paypal.

This is to comply with the Australian money laundering laws....paypal does have as much right to ask for identification as any Australian bank does.....they are a registered deposit taking institution. As I understand it paypal does not store your information after they have verified who you are.

It must be 10 years since I verified my identity and I have never had a problem.

Yes I have. Paypal has put a hold on all transaction until I send documentation to proof who I am. eg Drivers license and Birth cert etc

I am taking this further with the appropriate authorities. Paypal is giving me 180 days to send the documentation, if I don't the will keep the money

Yes, I have been using paypal for over 8 years never had an issue. All I want is my money and close the account, but they will not allow me.

It is not spam nor fake it is from Paypal. I thonk it is dispicable for Paypal to refuse to allow me to transfer my own money. Shame on you Paypal.

Did it happen before you tried to close your account or as a result of trying to close your account?

You will not be able to close your ebay account until 6 months after your last transaction. I would think that also applies to your paypal account as well.

That is to allow for any disputes being raised against you as a seller.
