Scam phone call

I received a automated phone call from “eBay” saying I have spent over $300+ On an item I did not spend money on i instantly hang up and I check my bank account no purchases were made on my card because I’m not stupid enough to leave my bank details or give these scammers my details.

has this happened to others?

The phone number is one of those random ones scammers use they can call you but you can’t call them and this number was an Australian number.

Type in "Scam phone call" in the "search all content" at the top of the page and you'll see well over 100 reports of them.

Yep

Many, many, many, many upon dozens of posts/comments/threads about fake calls and emails from 'eBay' on the forum

People who have never had an eBay account get the calls/emails

And tomorrow, the same scammers will be from some other company

Glad to hear that you did'nt have a conversation with them/ press 1 or download something the scammer told you to

More scam calls than ever at the moment. They must already have put phone numbers and emails of Optus customers on some dark site...

I never answer calls from numbers that are not in my contacts. If it's genuine, they'll leave a message.

Even if you don't engage, it tells the customer that the number is valid and you'll probably find you get more of them.
