Refund has not been proccessed

I bought items from China. They have a representative in Sydney, Australia. After the items arrived, I noticed they were not working, so I returned them using registered post.

However, due to family reasons, I went overseas and wasn’t able to track the refund. After two months, I checked my bank account and saw that the refund had not been processed.

In the meantime, eBay closed the case, and now I am unable to communicate with eBay about the refund.

What should I do? The items are worth 500 AUD.

If you paid through PayPal (funding with your card), then PayPal Buy Protection applies.

Did you pay through PayPal? (You’d have 180 days from date of transaction to open a refund claim.)

Yes… however, buyers can fund the payment by credit card but through PayPal, as opposed to funding from their bank account or from funds in PayPal. Sometimes buyers aren’t aware that PayPal protection applies irrespective of the funding source.

OP, as you used your card directly, you’re protected by your bank/card issuer only to the extent of your card’s T&Cs. That means the timeframe for disputes is as stated in your card policy details. It differs not only from bank to bank, but also from specific card to specific card. The shortest I’ve seen is one month, and the longest was 6 months.
