topic Ebay support absolutely useless in Technical Issues

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with a defective product issue and eBay has been absolutely useless in helping me. I cannot contact the seller directly, and every time I’ve tried to speak with eBay customer support, the conversation has been ended early with no resolution.

Not only am I still out of pocket, but the product doesn’t work, and eBay has not helped me get a refund or replacement. The agents have even left the conversation without asking if there was anything else they could assist with, which feels very unprofessional.

Has anyone else experienced this? How do you escalate an issue like this to someone higher up or a department that will actually resolve it? Any advice would be appreciated.

eBay provides a very straightforward avenue for being refunded when an item is not as described. It hasn’t anything to do with eBay customer support, but rather with eBay’s MBG.

The Money Back Guarantee covers you for 30 days from delivery of the item, or from latest Estimated Delivery Date (EDD), whichever is sooner. If the item you received was delivered no more than 30 days ago, you should open a return/refund for INAD immediately. Once the timeframe has passed, it’s no longer possible to open a dispute. The timeframe is precise to the very nanosecond; the MBG process is automatic, bot-driven, and there is no leeway with time.

If the timeframe is longer than 30 days from delivery, you’re no longer covered by the MBG. You could try a chargeback with your bank if you funded the purchase with your credit or debit card.

If the item was received rather more than 180 days ago, and the problem is that an issue developed with the item over time of after several uses, then you wouldn’t be covered by the MBG anyway, as it is a guarantee (of item as received), not a warranty. The same is true for items funded by PayPal.

For items covered under warranty, you will need to meet the ACL conditions (Australian Consumer Legislation), buying from Australian seller, where that seller is an Australian registered business with ABN/ACN, and that seller is authorised by the product manufacturer to sell that product.

I have not

I would open and follow through with an item not as described dispute

There is no need to contact eBay to do this, and no need to contact the seller

Very simple and quick to do, as long as you are within the 30 day time limit

If you have left it longer than what eBay cover, PayPal give 180 days or as a last resort, a bank charge back

Which are all things a buyer can do themselves

But I would also not buy from sellers registered in China who have horrid feedback

That information isn't quite right.

The buyer only has 30 days from the date of delivery to open a PayPal dispute - just saying 😉

Complete the information then.

It's 30 days for an item not as described - up to 180 days for not delivered.

Talk about Auntie Acid. LOL
