Security concern

Had some very unusual behavour using eBay today. Logged in the a little later being asked to log in again. Second login fails with message suggesting I need to stop blocking cookies (but I don't block cookies).

Tried again and eventually did log in. But along the way I saw the unusual username appear in the login window ...

A bit concerning, so I took a screenshot, see attached.

The screenshot shows the user name you are logged in with here now

Is that not your eBay username? Did ou choose your own username when you joined eBay ir was it decided for you?

(Your eBay username is not your real name, just your 'eBay name')

Does anyone in your household use the same computer ?

Now I'm realy concerned !!

A few minutes ago I posted "Security concern" and described login problems I had today. In that post I attached a screenshot showing a wierd username that had appeared in my login window "chjecje.5qsvyx".

After I submitted my post I noticed it was posted uinder that weird name, not mine !! uurrrggh.

Now I'm realy concerned !!

Hoping this second post goes up in my true username, and someone can explain what may be happening

Haha ebay gave OP that user name and then OP got a shock because it isn't what they wanted so OP you need to go to your account details and click to change your username to what you want it to be.

Scratch that then as OP has said it's not their username.

If nobody else in your houshold has logged in with that name, you might be best getting eBay to call you (emailing is useless)

Are you on a shared computer/unsecure connection/public internet?

Or, if there is nobody else in your household who has just joined eBay with or without you knowing (could someone there have opened their own account to buy something?) They may have forgotten to sign out after making their purchase?

are you on a public computer/shared wifi?

To add, have you checked your Paypal to see if the purchase the other name has made has come out of your account?

Might be good to change your Paypal password just in case

Or phone your bank tomorrow to make sure nothing has been bought with your account there

This is strange indeed because I just checked and the OP username has 1 feedback from a seller but when you search the sellers feedback it doesn't show up at all in the sellers feedback but it shows in OPs feedback lol.

The username sounds like something bot generated.

The new "account" looks like a guest account. Have you bought anything without being logged into your usual account?

Or has someone in your family opened a new account using the ebay ID that ebay has allocated to them instead of changing it to something else that they want.

Check your paypal account to see if there is a purchase on it that is from the seller who has left feedback on that rogue account....has that account paid for something from that seller.

My guess is that Chris has purchased an item as a guest and that's why that username has come up and then he has signed in and now both usernames are appearing and are both online

That is exactly what I was thinking crow. There seems to me to be a lot of panic over nothing.

BTW the mystery account has not left any feedback for the seller yet and there is no way that the feedback left for the buyer can be traced to the mystery account thanks to ebay hiding everything.

No updates for a while so my guess is that OP has realized what they did and is now being punished by himself for doing it haha

It looks like a guest account or a new account that is using the ebay generated ID instead of changing it to something they want.

So if you buy as a guest and receive feedback from the seller the feedback only shows in the guests account?

Because when I tried to find the feedback in the sellers account it wasn't even there lol.
