I have recently bid on an item and made an error in the maximum bid entry by using a full stop for the decimal point when the auction was held on ebay.de; the decimal point is represented by a comma in German. Instead of having a maximum value of 53,75 the entry self-corrected and showed as 5,375. When I tried to rectify this entry I was unable to do so and was given a statement from ebay that a maximum entry cannot be retracted or altered. This is a wrong move on ebay and it caused me to have to buy the item because I remained the highest bidder irrespective of any other bids. I had my limit due to my financial limits presently and now the seller has to wait until I have the funds to cover the additional amount. I have contacted the seller immediately in the German language to make him aware of the problem but there was no response from him as it was only 2 hours before end of auction. I contacted the seller again and explained the situation for the delayed payment but also have not received a response. I would strongly suggest for ebay to rectify the problem in order to avoid future problems of this nature with other prospective bidders. Thank you, regards Gerolf Kretschmar
