How to I update email?

The email address associated with my Ebay account is no longer in use, however when I try to update to my correct email there's a message saying that email is already in use. As far as I know I only have one Ebay account. How can I update it?

It will come up as "in use" if it has ever been used in the past on any eBay account.

Perhaps it might be easier to open another email account and update to that.

It is very easy to inadvertently create a new eBay account by signing in using a social media account linked to a particular email address for the first time.
