2-step verification using text

I am unable to set up 2-step verification using text? I keep getting the prompt, "We ran into a problem. Please try again later". I've been trying for days. I don't want to use Google or FB and share my data with them!

There is not anything other members can do

Someone else posted the same issue a couple of days ago

I would'nt be using Google or FB either (and no reason to do so)

Have you contacted anyone about it?

Are you on the app or the real site?

Do you have anything in your eBay settings ticked/unticked that might be preventing it?

Or on the settings on your computer/device?

I'm not sure who to contact? Still getting the same prompt. Perhaps ebay is being paid by Google or FB to collect our data.
