Hello, I have just received a pair of Oakley sunglasses.
I do not believe they are genuine as there are differences in the numbers and markings on the arms and lenses from what is shown on official websites. The box itself did not have the white product sticker on it which has the barcode and other info which was shown on one of the sellers photos.
I contacted EBay and without them asking any questions regarding as to what I received stated that everything was legitimate. It also said to not reply to that email as it doesn’t accept incoming mail and no option as to where I go from here.
Can someone please advise my options to take this further, thanks.

A few salient facts needed.

Where is the seller REGISTERED?

Did you pay close to retail, or were they a 'bargain'.

Have you had them checked out by a registered Australian representative of Oakley?

I look forward to your answers. I'm guessing Asia to 1 and 'NO' to the others.

If they don't match the listing, then open a case for Item Not as Described to get a refund.

The item was below retail price which I know should have been a warning but wrongly assumed EBay would protect me to some degree against fake items but now I realise how difficult it is to make contact with them I am also aware of the position I have put myself in.
I have not at this stage taken them to an authorised agent of Oakley.
The seller has lots of other sunglasses for sale with over 200 transactions so assume they are registered.
The ‘made in USA’ marking on one of the arms is badly done and is not shown marked this way on any other image I can find. The code on the other arm starts with 00 instead of OO which is a warning given by genuine suppliers.
I will find an Oakley representative to take them to tomorrow to confirm but I suppose my initial question is to whether there is another process I can follow if I need to take this further rather than an automated reply.

Yes, they would have to be registered to sell, that wasn't the question though

The question was where is the seller registered (as in which country)

And eBay will protect you IF you open a dispute for item not as described, if what you were sent does not match the photos/item description

No, they won't 'just take your word for it' that you 'think' they are fake

That is a different thing entirely

And again, what is the item number?

Thank you, I will return the sunglasses using the link you supplied as the photos used by the seller showing the markings on the arms and lens do not match what are on the pair I received.

Make sure you get the appraisal from the Oakley distributor to back up your dispute.

The seller is in NSW. I realise they won’t just take my word for it but when I used the link ‘report this item’ it only allowed me to give a very brief outline of my issue before the automated reply.
I was hoping to send photos of what should be on a genuine pair and what is one the pair I received.

I have decided to return the item as the markings in the photos don’t match what are on the sunglasses I received so it is not as described.

I don’t really want to give the item number. I am new to this and not sure what issues this will cause revealing this.

DO NOT return them until you've opened a dispute and are TOLD to return them AND the seller pays for the return.

I doubt the seller is in NSW.

That might be the claimed location - what we are asking is where they are registered. Easy to find out. Just click on their feedback. The result will tell you where they are registered (China), how many negatives they have and why.

The item number is 126599280077. There are only 3 negative feedbacks but one of those was a month ago about the same description of sunglasses.

There's about nine points to check.

But here's a question I can't answer 'why would a seller with a good track record try it on'?

I can’t imagine why they would try it on. The last negative review they had was the description of these sunglasses. I have looked at those sites saying what to look for. There are 4 things that are different to what is shown there which is why I am concerned. I became suspicious because the box didn’t have the product label with the barcode and descriptions but was shown on the box in the sellers photo.

I don’t want to comment anymore until I have spoken to someone tomorrow in regard to this.

Oh for goodness sake.

You have the item which was described - in the listing - photos of same.

Take photos of that which you have received - with the differences.

Open - immediately - an item - not as described - and do not close it until you have been refunded.
