Seller sent me the wrong item? .

i purchased a pair of Apple Ipods

and the seller as messaged me say he sent me the "wrong pair " and wants me to return them and he will re ship the correct pair what do i do here? ive already waited almost 2 weeks for it to show up at all

his message was I think I accidentally sent you a pair of Airpod pro gen 2's,instead of airpod gen 2. I understand this is not your fault and completely my mistake but I really do need that pair back. we will obviously send you the pair you ordered and a partial refund for helping us out.

ive tried googling to find a price difference between the two and i could just pay the difference but i feel like it could be some kind of scam

Absolute scam.

Can you give us the item number?

What you need to do is open a case for Not as Described. Depending on where the seller is REGISTERED (Australia or overseas), they will either have to send a shipping label or postage funds if they want it back. There is zero way you must pay for any return postage.

If you were to send the item back at your cost with no case open, the seller is under no obligation to do anything as there is no "proof". They will never part-refund anything and you will lose your money and the item.

What a bizarre situation.

The item you purchased has an item number - usually about 10 numbers.

Look at the item - you'll find it.

Seller is registered in Australia, so my point stands that you need to open a case as mentioned (NAD), and if they want it back, they will need to send a label, or refund you in full.

No. Not the order number - but the ITEM number.

Open the listing of the item; you should see the item number in the listing.

The official Apple website lists what you have bought for $219, and what the seller claims they have sent for $399 (both new of course).

It is indeed a bizarre situation.

If you want to open the parcel, you can still open it and then open an INR case, as already said, so the seller will pay for return postage and there is no loss for you.

In case it is not a scam and you like the AirPods they sent you, you could agree to pay a certain price difference to the seller, but be sure to test everything first. Also, the seller says they need that pair back, so maybe they don't want you to pay more, but just to send it back, which you should do through a case and not on your own.

As mentioned, if the seller wants those ones back, you need to open a dispute for item not as described when the item arrives, and they have to send you a postage label. DO NOT accept the offer of them resending the correct ones and DO NOT pay for return postage, because you could end up with an empty envelope. It's a full refund or nothing. If they send you an empty envelope, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Ask for a full refund and you'll repurchase the item again and hopefully they'll send the correct ones. It could be an elaborate scam. Buyer buys item A, we'll send item B. Oooops, we sent the wrong ones, send them back and we'll send the ones you ordered, with a part refund for your trouble. You get an empty envelope, or maybe some junk mail. You lose. Don't do it, don't fall for it. Ebay won't help you.

If the seller doesn't respond to the dispute after 4 days and haven't sent a postage label, ask ebay to step in and help. You should then get a full refund. If the seller still wants the item back, then they still need to send you a postage label.
