I can't see how eBay can force us to provide all the personal information they are now asking for. They DO NOT need a drivers license and DOB to deposit money into a bank account. I have money deposited every day with nothing but the account number and BSB.

The details they are collecting are details that should be kept private and secure. eBay is known for having lost confidential details. Regardless no one should have to allow a third party to store these. They pretty much want everything that a scammer would need to cause a lot of damage.

I'm astounded that so many are comfortable to just hand over highly sensitive personal information. My account has sat dormant since this requirement was enforced.

Just like opening a bank account or purchasing a mobile number, ID is required.

Up to you though. No ID, no selling on eBay.

It's mostly to prevent scammers setting up accounts, thought that would have been obvious.
