I have a three day turnaround on my listings however I have never once used this time frame. I either mail same day or the following day. I had a sale of one coin on October 21 at appros 2100hrs I packed the coin that night and mailed it first thing in the morning as is usual. The buyer left excellent feedback and said nothing to me.

Upon checking my account I notice eBay has put a defect there for late shipping as detailed by tracking and reported by the buyer.

There was no tracking on this item which was sent from Qld to WA. eBay never bothers to notify members of their underhanded decisions. I immediately lodged an appeal which stated they would get back to me within 8 hours. 8 Days have passed and no reply. I have never in my life posted late so how eBay come to these nefarious decisions is beyond me. Having no contact phone number is a sham they never want to assist. Can anyone please offer any advice. As for the future I will exclude WA from any shipping at all. I am presently waiting on a box of envelopes which was due to arrive last week it is now not due to arrive until the middle or end of next week. Will I complain to eBay about late shipping? No definitely not due to the flooded areas down South and roads that are cut. It's about time eBay used some common sense instead of sitting in their ivory castles defecting people when they don't know half the storey. There is no fairness here in eBay just bad decisions by clueless people.

Did you mark it as sent within your handling time? If you don't that will attract a defect.

Half my items go as untracked letters and I haven't incurred any late postage defects. But I make sure I mark them as sent.

If you had initial postage as a tracked form, no scan will attract a defect.

Other than those, I can't think of anything.

Thanks but it's like the 2 negatives I have the guy was a member for two days emails me after they are in tracked mail and says the coins are too expensive he's changed his mind. I told him I have a no returns policy for change of mind so he leaves me two negatives when the coins are in perfect condition eBay lists me as having 3 returns when I have none the guy kept the coins so I have no returns but ebay has given me three returns as well as two negative feedback and now this, And you can't get any sense out of them.

No it's not the end of the world although it is the principal of the issue then eBay will take a persons word who has been a member for two days and who had left 10 negative feedbacks for other sellers over a seller since 2005 who had no negative feedback. You might as welltalk to a brick wall you get more sense out of it. And I'm not the only seller who complained about this guy eBay sank the other sellers as well all were top rated sellers too with no negatives until now.

No point having a go at the buyer in you FB reply. If the item did not arrive on time and was sent without tracking, then you get a defect. Not the buyers fault, they have not contacted ebay, they have simply ticked that the item did not arrive by the due date,

If the buyer reports that GP, the OP will get another "black mark" on their account. Very foolish reaction by the OP in my opinion.

Unbelievable that the sale was around 2100 on Saturday night the item was posted on Sunday morning not due to be posted until Tuesday by my two day turnaround and still I get defected. I appealed this with eBay their reply was I would hear from them within 8 hours. To this day I have heard nothing from them. I offer tracked mail however no one wants to pay for tracked services. FYI Australia Post has managed to lose 5 tracked mail articles all from the one mail sorting centre which I was reimburse for so it's not the be all and end all either.

@david. tracking is not the be all and end all, but it at least doesn't leave you out of pocket. There is no point offering tracked postage as a n option - buyers know they are covered by the MBG, so why would they pay extra to cover YOU? If it's worth enough, send tracked. If not - don't

Hi there, davidn067, Never claimed tracking was the be all and end all, nor did I claim it stops mail getting lost. However as long as you meet your obligations to ebay and the item shows one valid tracking event , then tracking protects you against metric defects and refunds for INR claims. As the item was sent without trackng and the buyer ticked that it did not arrive on time, then the defect is automatic and as you have no evidence to the contrary, then you have no valid appeal and you have been fobbed off by CS.
