Validation Codes Don't Work

Whenever I want to change something in my settings page it asks me to validate who i am, even though I have already logged in. I have asked for a notification. the notification pops up on my mobile, but when I click on it, it opens eBay but doesn't show the 3 windows to type in a the number they provide. So I ask for a mobile phone text message. When that code arrives, I type it in to the windows in eBay, but it always rejects it. So I try send an email. The email arrives, I type in the validation code sent, into eBay windows, and it rejects it. Of course you can't contact the damned site. Any one know how to fix this?

Why can't you contact?

eBay Help is at the top of every page

You type speak to an agent in the chatbot during business hours

Are you possibly using a VPN ?

Have you tried on the real site or just your phone?

Tried that but it sends you into a loop and then spits you back out. it is totally useless and very time consuming.

It's an automated response to send you back to their scripted, half baked, solutions. I have no idea how to get hold of an agent. Apparently things changed this year where they only give you a chatbot to talk to. They have no customer relations now. It's as if they can't be bothered with us any more as long as we keep spending.

You get hold of an agent by typing speak to an agent in the chatbot as I said.

And yes, even then you will get a scripted response which is what all eBay staff type from and have done for many many years.

Other members can only advise what works for us, and that is typing speak to an agent in the bot.

And the chatbot has been the 'only' way at first for much longer than just this year (or even last year for that matter)

If there is some other magic way of doing it on this site, I don't know it and it has not been posted by anyone else

You also have the option of sending them a message on a social media platform if you use one

Thanks for your assistance. but it isn;t working. I've had to go with Authenticator to get over the issues. Deeply disappointed in eBay. This is the second time this has happened. Last time I had to uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Now I have access via Authenticator I will have to do that to see if it works, when I have time.

Yes, the app has always had big issues for many people, which is why I asked if you had tried the real site rather than the app

Yes I had tried the website on numerous browsers, all without any protection or VPN.

I would not suggest trying anything 'without protection' (assuming you mean anti virus? ) It is only the VPN which causes issues with eBay. Please don't try without any protection at all
