Question Re: Registered post item lost in transit in Packaging & Shipping

I presume they are collectable banknotes (numismatic) not current currency, so I think it is a grey area that the Post Office are using to their advantage. I think you would have to insure this type of item to cover yourself.

Registered post item lost in transit

I recently sold two banknots on ebay and posted them through Registered Auspost. Unfortunately, the item lost in transit. I loadged a complaint with Auspost with all the documents including loadgement receipt. After few days, I received an email from Auspost that they can't compensate for the item lost. Below is the part of the email:

"Unfortunately under our terms and conditions we do not allow Currency to be sent in the mail. This can be found at https://auspost.com.au/content/dam/auspost_corp/media/documents/Schedule-01-0416.pdf. In regards to this Unfortunately we are unable compensate for the loss of the item."

I just wanted to share this experience so ebayers become aware of this matter. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Cheers
