Postage and shipping charges.

Hi,

After doing a spot of checking on postage charges from the UK to Australia,I have realized that the seller of an item I am bidding on is grossly over charging on postage.I would like to know if I can retract my bid?There are stilll 12 hours & 40 minutes left before close of auction.

I would retract if you think the postage charge is overpriced and you are not willing to pay the amount specified. In bidding for the item you are accepting the postage fee (which is the postage & handling fee really). They may have a high handling fee included - I have read here on the forum (by vastly more experienced and savvy ebayers) that if you wish to retract your bid, it is advisable to do so 12 hours BEFORE the close of auction so the clock is ticking! You dont have a valid reason to retract your bid so you will have to pick a 'lie' and hope that the seller doesnt report you.

There are many hidden fees and charges with postage, not just the stamp cost. If the seller is registering and insuring the parcel, that is an extra cost that you may not have taken into account and is very expensive.

why didn't you check before you bid - you had about 12 hours to do your research? That's what your watch list is for - to put items on while you THINK and RESEARCH before you place your bid.
