Funds with cancelled sale

Hi there.

Had a small bit of confusion with a buyer, they purchased an item and paid, but asked to cancel and for the refund. I'm happy to accept but was just curious about what happens to the money.

Ebay is saying that I will need to pay X amount for the refund, but they were holding the buyers money still and it wasn't transferred to me yet, so will the refund just be from the money that they had yet to send me?

Generally it will be from your available funds. Which means if you don't have any, wait for the payment to process. As you've already refunded, keep an eye on whether it comes from the pending payment.

eBay will refund all of the money the buyer paid, but will retain the 33c processing fee, so you might have to pay them that if your account falls into the red as a result of the refund.

Make sure you use 'buyer requested' as the reason for the cancellation.
