Contact eBay via help at the top and ask to speak with a supervisor.

Inform them you have the signature which is the same as the account holder's name and you can send a screenshot or picture to them as it is clearly a scam.

(It could be a family member not wanting to say anything to their parents, but don't mention that).

Hello, I recently sold an iphone 12 on ebay and the buyer disputed the transaction saying they didn't recognise the purchase. The buyer has received the item and I have documentation from the post office which shows the persons name, address, the tracking number as well as the signature from the delivery. However, the dispute has gone in the buyers favour and I am now expected to refund Ebay for the purchase? So not only have I been scammed for my item (which wasn't cheap) but I now have to refund ebay for the item (losing about $900 AUD). Is there anything I can do? Because this is absolutely ridiculous and can't belive its happening on a large platform like Ebay which is suppose to have seller protections.

the person who signed for the package had the same last name as the person who purchased but not the same first name. So it would've been a family member, does this still count as seller protection? Because now i am out a $900 iphone 12 and $900 from my bank account as well as all the time i've spent trying to fix this 😞 thanks for your response

If it is the same last name but not the same first name, it is possible (as kop said) that it is a family member who possibly bought the phone using another person's computer while they were logged in (possibly a minor?). I would think you are protected and that it is now a family issue, but explain the situation to eBay via live chat. You will probably be put through to some supervisor because I doubt that the normal people on live chat know what to do in such a situation.
