Hello.

Like so many, I was looking at an item and thought to check the feedback score.

I'm not sure if putting the name of the seller in a post is allowed, but I'll try.

You can see the high negative feedback score. Since Aug '23 it's sitting on 10.7% and the last month it's 20.4% Yet, eBay says they are a top rated seller.

One of eBay's most reputable sellers.
Consistently delivers outstanding customer service.

Why are these sellers permitted to continue selling? Clearly they're not a reputable seller, as the comments make clear.

From what I can see this is nothing new. So, there's really no need to post a reply. I just don't see why they have a feedback score system and it means nothing.

No, you are not permitted to name the seller. From the Community Rules of Engagement:

❝9. No naming and shaming.

We will not tolerate posting member details or listing information for the purpose of shaming another member. Additionally, a members’ ID or contact information may not be published. More information regarding eBay’s guidelines about appropriate content can be found in both our Profanity policy and our Member-to-Member contact policy.❞

A moderator is sure to edit your post at some point to remove the username in question.

You can post item numbers, however, if they are of concern.

The seller in question is registered in China. There’s no surprise as to why the seller is able to continue, and why, because of the high volume of sales, they receive the largely meaningless label of “top rated seller”. Sellers registered on eBay.cn are to some extent untouchable.

The feedback system is flawed in any case

For example, buyers can only be given positive feedback or no feedback

And as for this seller (you agreed to the rules when you joined, not allowed to name and shame)

They are still on eBay because buyers choose to keep them their, to keep buying from them and supporting them

Every buyer has a choice and 100% control over who they buy from

All the warnings are there to avoid the seller, are'nt they?

Yet look how many just don't care enough to look at who they are buying from before buying

Well, I'd take the name out myself, if I could. Maybe eBay should allow naming and shaming. Maybe eBay should do a lot of things it doesn't. Thanks for replying.

Contrary to your comment the feedback score system does mean something. Switched on buyers do actually look at the feedback, and determine from the comments if they want to buy or not.

When you click on an item, the first thing you see is their feedback rating, this should be number one for people to look at, they don't.

Feedback is a valuable thing, sadly a large number of buyers don't read it until after they have an issue, and than complain.
