Question Re:e-cheque seller protection in Selling on eBay

If you choose the immediate payment option that does stop buyers paying using an echeque payment.

The reason it does this is because the item has not been paid for immediately as echeque payments take time to clear and in the meantime another buyer could purchase the item and pay instantly.

There is no problem accepting echeque payments as once the payment clears the seller is covered under the seller protection policy.

The advantage of an echeque payment for a seller is that the buyer is unable to do a credit card chargeback through their bank.

e-cheque seller protection

Hi,

I recently received payment via e-cheque but the details on the Paypal transaction showed 'Not Eligible for Seller Protection'.

What kind of cover does a seller have if they are paid via e-cheq against a buyer opening a case? Surely the buyer can still open a case with Paypal if they pay via e-cheq and aren't happy with the product, or it goes missing etc? If I tick the 'immediate payment' option in my listings - what does that do? I believe it stops e-cheques but what are the ramifications of doing this? Thanks for your help.
