Stop opening new window for each item i look at

This has been going on for a while now, every time i look at a different item ebay has to open a new tab, if i look at 20 items i have 20 tabs open, how do i stop this from happening, many people have this problem but as yet there is no answer that i can find to stop it

It's not eBay, it's your browser I think.

Sometimes it happens to me too, and yes, it is annoying, but I usually fix the problem by clearing cookies and cache and restarting the browser. Sometimes I have to reboot the computer.

I don't know the OP, but I had the right settings, and it just happened sometimes (suddenly, so obviously unrelated to settings), although it hasn't happened for quite a while.

Another scenario that happened to me were pages opening in new tabs AND multiple items being selected in Windows Explorer when I only selected one. Rebooting always fixed the problem. (This had to do with the mouse, not the browser.)

You should also tell us which browser you are using.

You can probably find fixes for other browsers too if you search online.

There is a setting in your search results "Customise" menu, which can be reached on the search results page in the upper right where you choose between List or Gallery view:

From there, you can select whether search result links open in a new tab or the same tab:

There are actually many answers (rather than no answer), but they are not the same for everyone, so you have to look at them one by one and see what applies to you. Obviously if you have "open in a new tab" in your settings, the windows will open in a new tab, but if you don't, you will have to look at possible glitches and their causes one by one.

Have you tried the possible solutions given by other members but they did not work for you?

Seems they have worked for others, which would suggest that for once, it's not 'eBay'
