Question Re: is the return system retarded? in Site Issues

No, it's still in transit. It shows that it's already arrived at Epping VIC and still progressing. We've just had Easter as well as a ANZAC, but either way, it should see that I've sent the item out, right? The email states: "Please send the item back by 28 Apr, 2022. If you don't, we may close this request and you may not receive a refund." as if I'm trying to keep the item while asking for a refund.

is the return system retarded?

Hi,

So I bought an item that didn't work as described at all. I submitted a request for refund. Following the prompted process, I printed the return label and lodged the item back.

This postage label (and tracking number) was supplied VIA eBay, which means its system should theoretically know about it.

To this day, it still thinks I haven't sent the item back even though I've done it since the 10 Apr as the tracking number shows. I even got an automated email from them saying that I haven't lodged the item back.

The only button I could click on was "Print Return Label" - nothing else!! How the hell do I get eBay to know that I've sent it back? I assumed that it would have some sort of API with the tracking system to handle this information, but obviously not!

Now, double retard time. I tried to use the virtual agent to get an agent to call back regarding this item. Doing so makes eBay think that I'm asking them to "STEP IN" when all I really wanted to do was to clear things out so that they can update the system to confirm that I've sent the bloody item back, but now it's all a **bleep**ing mess and I'm freaking out because if eBay rules against me, not only do I lose the refund, but the seller gets the item back too ARGH HELP!!!

When checking the tracking on the AP site, does it show as delivered yet ?

Context: VIC is the destination state back to the seller. I've sent the item to the post office on 10 Apr. Nothing more I can do. If the system is automated and only reacts to "delivered" status, then a lot of customers would lose out unfairly. I've just spoke to an eBay rep today. Can't imagine how this works without such intervention.

Unfortunately the AP system still has delays and some individuals don't always scan in.

I was going to suggest to contact eBay and make sure they put a note on that the return appears delayed.

Sounds like you have done so. Good luck.

Thanks for this. Guess it we've pretty much confirmed that eBay's return system has some overlooked limitations that would hopefully be fixed in the near future.
