I recently received a message saying:

We noticed a new sign-in on your account at ebay.com.au. Here are the details:

28/01/2024 9:58 AM AEST

Windows (Edge 121.0)

If this was you, there’s nothing you need to do. If it wasn’t, please change your password right away

How come a business/company can access my account? I am considering closing my account because it is obviously open to others to access so they don't even have to hack into anything use it. Talk about a free gift to crooks...

Where was the message?

When you signed in ?

(If so, do you clear your cache and or use a VPN) ?

Or was it

In your eBay messages?

In your emails?

If it was only in your emails, was it really from eBay or a phising message from a scammer pretending to be eBay?

Have you clicked on any links? (hopefully not)

Close your account by all means, you don't need to tell other members about it

it is not 'open for others to access' as you claim

Scammers are everywhere on the internet and can hack anything, as you would be aware
