Attemped to pay the invoice as sent by ebay but got this message --- "The sellers can't accept payments right now. Contact them for help." I have tried to contact the seller but have had no reply.

I purchased an item yesterday afternoon, and attempted to pay via PayPal - Checkout went through the login process, then redireted me back to the payment page, which had defaulted to a credit card payment, saying PayPal was temporarily unavailable. I waited five minutes, then tried it again, and it went through OK.
If your seller only accepts PayPal, maybe that was the problem - perhaps try making the payment again?
