Anyone familiar with error code 70164 "sellers are not accepting payments right now. Contact them for help"

I've not come across this error personally, but a quick search led me to various possible reasons as to why this is happening. Apparently errors beginning with the digits 70 are one of a multitude of payment processing errors.

• It could be that the seller has their PayPal email address set up incorrectly with an error in the email address. (However, many sellers report that they have checked and re-checked their email addresses, and that it's intermittent, so clearly that is not the sole possibility.)
• It could be that there is a coding problem with eBay or PayPal.
• It could be that the seller does not post to your country.
• It could be that your web browser is misbehaving. (Try another browser - Firefox or Google Chrome, perhaps?)
• It could be that you need to clear your cache (as every IT person everywhere has suggested to every IT problem...)
• It could be that you will be able to pay if you try using another device (another computer, or on an iPad or other tablet, or on your iPhone or other smart phone).
• It could be that a butterfly fluttered its wings.

Perhaps give your seller a quick phone call to work out the best solution? You can request your seller's contact information by using this link. Your seller should be able to send you an invoice from PayPal, and specify the item number in that invoice.
