return item sent using a registered post tracking number

A return item was sent by registered post under another tracking number, not the one supplied by eBay. The seller denies they received it, although Australia Post confirms it was indeed signed for by the seller. How does eBay help in this circumstance when all efforts to find assistance through the eBay platform are met with the same case closed summary?

Why didn't you use the label supplied to you ?

You'll have an uphill battle now to get your refund.

Use the link below and scroll to the bottom for the contact details.

Just for future reference if you dont use the label supplied

If you didn't use an eBay return label, here's how to add tracking information to your return:

Go to your Purchase history and find the item in Returns and cancelled orders.

Select View return details.

Select Mark as sent.

Select the carrier from the drop-down list, then enter the tracking number.

I do not have a printer to run off the return label. Within the hour of receiving the item, it was returned by registered mail to the parcel  return addressee. Australia Post customer services have confirmed in writing that the item was indeed signed for by the seller. They have insisted they don't have it, based on the eBay return tracking number, but the registered tracking number mentioned has been received.

Contacting the department of Fair Trading is looking likely at this stage. The seller is in Australia.

As asked, why did you ignore eBay policy and do your own thing?

You we’re provided with that tracking number for a reason

You can’t expect to be covered by eBay as you would otherwise be if you do not use the tools you were given
