I purchased two items yesterday listed as an promotion for the upcoming solar eclipse (310495127035 and 221147458642) and paid for them as well wit PP. Today the seller contacted me and said they had to cancel the order because there was a error with the ebay system. I contacted ebay and they said everything was fine and the purchase was ok. The seller told me ebay gave them permission to cancel the the order. It was quite a bargain so I cancelled another order from overseas from a third party. But if I dont get the item now I have to reorder it with all the new costs that were created by the cancellation. So who is compensating me for that?? (time , money , nerves)
Or can I just insist that they sent me the item bec time is an issue as well (solar eclipse in 14 days!!).
If anyone could help and respond asap would be great!!
(best prob an ebay employee??)
Thx for your help

Stranger, maybe you should ask your question on the German boards.
I wonder if they have a problem with Godwin's law on the German boards?

I was having troubles with that Sell similar/ Revise bug... luckily I think i fixed them all... is it still happening ?? ๐

I think you are probably right Bump. If it costs $74 for courier delivery within Australia I hate to think what it would cost to send it to Germany, if indeed the seller would send it.

Yeah, Im german citizen living in Australia atm. The order cancelled was directly with Celestron (US) and not over ebay. Seems like ebay really gave the selller perrmission to cancel that order and refund me bec of a bug in their system. Its just now up to the seller to make me happy bec of the loss the transaction created.
Hope I will get one in time!!
thx for your help everybody

Stranger, is the seller aware that you are actually in Australia and wanted the item delivered to Australia?
On the surface of this thread it looks like the seller was within their rights to cancel as you were in a country that they did not post to.

You just agreed that the seller cancelled because of a bug in the system yet you still feel the seller should compensate you. Unreal......

I might have missed something here, but when the item was cancelled did the seller refund? This is probably why the OP is asking for compensation.

Onders, just a suggestion, but if you're going to be living in Australia for a reasonable length of time ie 6 months or more, you may be better off changing your registration details to Australia whilst you're here & buying things from ebay-just phone ebay who will change your actual region also.

The way I read it all, now, is that the OP has first ordered this item directly from USA, when he came accross the "bargain" on eBay he cancelled the original order. Now the eBay transaction has fallen through, he has no telescope and not much time to get one from US, so he feels he should be compensated. ............
Well, that is not going to happen.
I would suggest that you contact the seller who is now offering the same item at the correct price and buy it from him. Also make sure they know they will be posting within Australia.

I read that too, but he also stated that he had paid for the item with PayPal but there was no mention of a refund when seller wanted to cancel the sale
