How to modify quantity in submitted 'return' request.

I purchased 2 x monitors but 1 was damaged in transit so I need to return 1 of the monitors. I submitted a 'return' request but I forgot to change the quantity from 2 to 1.   When I've gone back into the request, it doesn't allow me to alter the quantity amount. The only option given is to 'cancel' the request, but it warns me that if I do cancel the 'return' request, I won't be able to open a new 'return' request.

The seller has asked me to change the quantity to 1, but I can't see how to do that. Can you please advise how I can alter the quantity of items in my submitted 'return' request.

I believe return requests, especially for not as described, are all or nothing.

However if the seller was fair dinkum they would refund you for the damaged one.

Damaged in transit means packed inadequately, so the seller hasn't a leg to stand on. If they want the broken one back (why?) they will have to pay for the return of both.

Hi Dave,  partial returns of quantity purchases is now a thing,  it is limited to 1 return request only and the buyer must stipulate qty to be returned and refund amount is set accordingly.

As the OP  has entered return qty 2, they are required to return both items for a full refund.

I don't know if there is any means for the seller to halve the refund, but I don't believe there is a means for the OP to alter the stated return qty.

When I do a return there is an option to adjust the amount but you need to give a reason why. I would gather every seller has the option.

If you go back and read it again. As a seller I can adjust the refund amount and state a reason. So an example would be the buyer only returned half the quantity so I would adjust the refund to 50%.

Although its getting late so maybe I miss understood the comment so sorry for any misunderstanding.

But in this case the return has been submitted and approved for  both items, when the return tracking  shows delivered, as far as ebay will be concerned both items will have been returned for the stated full refund.

Empty box scenario.

For me as a seller I would just state only one was returned and offer 50% return amount. Maybe other sellers don't have that option or it is only available for certain returns but I would think this one would qualify.

Just looked it up in the help section and it says not all sellers qualify to deduct an amount from the return so maybe why no one here knows about it. I don't use it even when warranted as people make mistakes and order the wrong item but it is handy to have available if needed.

I have only ever used it twice, and both times was compelled by ebay to make full refund.  Maybe it was because  I offered zero refund for false items returned, don't know what would have happened if I had offered a pittance instead.

Anyway as far as the OP goes I don't believe they can alter the return claim, and they definitely only get one go at it.
