adding postage to a payment

A seller is advertising braided hose for 5.50 per foot, the postage is listed as 9.90.

I want ten foot, so the seller says enter the lenght you want In the quantity, but it also times the postage by ten (99 dollars!)

so I messaged the seller, they are actually selling the hose for 15 dollars per foot but are now telling me I can have it for 14 dollars per foot.

in my mind it should be 5.50 per foot times ten= 55 dollars + postage?

To to me it's misleading for them to be advertising it for 5.50 per foot when it's actually 15  dollars per foot.

i have done a search but can't find if they are going outside the rules doing this?

Can an anyone advise me?

I think the seller means it will be $15 per foot including delivery. Nothing wrong with that unless it specifies in the postage section that there will be any reduction for multiples of one foot.

If you give us the item number we can go have a look.

As the seller pays fees on the total cost including delivery there is no advantage to them in selling as they are if that is how they are doing it.

Don't know where they get 15 per foot.  Listing def says $5.50 per foot.

Unfortunately, further down in the listing it says this -

POSTAGE IS TO MOST PLACES IN AUSTRALIA. NO COMBINED POSTAGE ON THIS ITEM UNFORTUNATELY

Shock horror.

You READ the listing. You are obviously not a typical eBay buyer.

That one is worth reading for all his little announcements, like Paypal has

rules about registered post, and he's not responsible after it's posted......and more

Makes for good fiction

I like that it comes from a happy household.

I also cacked myself laughing down near the bottom where they are ranting about the star ratings, saying sellers get discounted FVF's if stars stay at 4.9 or above and those discounts are passed onto buyers. Low star ratings harm them and increases their fees, which stop them passing on discounts. That's the funniest thing I've read in ages, especially as they only have 1 star at 4.9, the rest are below.
