Where are you trying to input the information?
If the seller only accepts credit card, do they have their own checkout facility where you are inputting the information?

It's possible their credit card facility doesn't recognise your Australian credit card. My husband had issues in a few places in the States. He had taken a Load & Go card, but some places that didn't work (for whatever reason). He tried his Australian credit card (Visa) and still wouldn't work so had to find an ATM to withdraw the funds so he could pay for whatever it was he needed to pay for.
I'd contact the seller and ask them if they accept Australian credit cards.

Tippy, if it is a Visa or Mastercard issued by a major bank there should not be a problem.
If it is a Visa debit card there may be an issue.

That's what we thought too, that's why I couldn't work out why his Westpac Visa card didn't want to work either. The Load & Go is a Visa debit card, but the other is definitely a credit card. It worked in other places, like the car rental and hotel, but some of the smaller establishments neither worked.

I could be wrong, but I don't think debit Mastercards are as widely accepted as Visa cards. I think Mastercard credit cards are OK, but I think there are issues with the debit card.
