Any recommendations for a basic.....

MP3 player?  I don't need an ipod, just something easy to use

that plays music and nothing else -  don't need phone, FM,

video, etc. .
I know nothing about these and have no 5 year old around me to explain, lol,

I see you can get them for around $30 up.
Would these be able to rip CDs from my computer?

And could I download music free or must I pay for it.

Don't need huge storage either - I want to download some

classical  music also rock and a variety of music.  .

Good sound quality would be nice.

I will get it from a store.

Any input most welcome.

My son recommends an Ipod Shuffle ... check eBay - they start at under $10.00.

Not for the authentic ones.. Those are probably just cheap imitations..

I have an iPod nano that I bought second hand..

You can get other MP3 players that aren't apple but they're getting hard to find.. Woolies sell them for around $30 and you just drag and drop songs on them.. They don't have a ripping from CD option but you can rip CDs via Media Player and add them yourself.

Itunes doesnt like you putting free songs on your ipod.

I figured out how to do it though

I didn't have any problems, I just go File-> Add folder

Re: Any recommendations for a basic.....

We bought these for the kids and they each have around 100 songs on them so far (all downloaded for free) and have never missed a beat (had them for around 18 months now)

My kids are very rough with their stuff and they have been dropped many times, get thrown in bags with drink bottles etc and they are still perfect 🙂

Gosh they're cheap enough and look good  .   Even if they packed it in after

a while you couldn't complain.   Very interesting, thanks.

Sorry Bright ton, didn't mean to mislead you, my player does not rip the cd's, I have another program for that, then I drag and drop them on the mp3 player. Very easy, plenty of free ripping programs on the net.

Assuming you're using windows, you already have one. Windows Media Player can rip CDs and if you're online can download the Album Information (album art, track listing etc) so you don't have to do it manually
