Re: Bitter and twisted

Just a splash of the vermouth? Or do you measure?

I prefer very dry too.

Re: Bitter and twisted

I have a ssecial bottle with a small drop spout so no more than 5 to 6 drops of vermouth. So dry that it can ruin you if you drink more than 3 and that's pushing it.

They don't call Gin "mothers ruin" for nothing...lol

Re: Bitter and twisted

Very very dry indeed.

perfection

I can only have the one. It is either with a lovely fat green olive or a twist of lemon peel, depending on the day's mood.

Re: Bitter and twisted

It's funny how so many people think they know how to make the perfect dry martini but never quite achieve perfection.

That's the nature of the beast,

Hope I got all my apostrophe's correct this time.

Re: Bitter and twisted

i'm fine thank you,and you?

and btw,do you know what goes on in those kitchens before and after hours? you seem to have a very low opinion of commercial kitchens and those who work in them, was that opinion gained from your youthful experiences in your dad's restaurants?

i'm sure he was a good owner, but was everyone who worked for him perfect? were they monitored constantly like kitchens here are?

Re: Bitter and twisted

i'm not being rude here,i really want to know why you have such a low opinion of commercial cooks and kitchens. you stated that they have inexperienced staffs, that you've seen kitchens with bad food handling procedures,so why aren't they being trained properly, with the procedures you stated you wrote? but you don't advocate that home cooks use those same procedures?

i don't get it,and i want to know.

Re: Bitter and twisted

Hmm, yes...we shall have to wait and see.

I've never had a martini but I don't think I'd enjoy drinking them.  A bloody mary, now that I enjoy...especially when it's been through a chinois.
