Breast Screening

I have just received a letter about the government has extended the age of for the free breast screening until the age of 74,

No thanks, don't want more radiation which is carcinogenic.

If I had not had a mammogram in 2009 I would be dead now.

Well, if it is 74, I will still be going then.

Cancer is rife on my mothers side of the family, all different cancers. My mum died of ovarian cancer, they call it the silent cancer as there is no particular test for it, other than a blood test and ultra sounds.....and I have them regularly.

Maybe it s because women are living longer, wih more still using HRT?

I had regular breast screening with all clear reports and found the lump myself.

No not in my 70ies, just glad for free screening and glad to be alive.

Mammograms in my opinion are not to be relied on. I have just had 8 FNA and one core biopsy done, not one of the lumps were picked up from the mammogram they were picked up from ultrasound. Just don't think that because your mammogram comes back fine that you are clear. Do your self exams and look for changes as well.
