I have a friend in US who would like to donate towards the bushfire relief.
She asked me for the name of a good, reliable charity where most of the donation will go towards where it is needed, not skimmed off in expenses etc
She particularly mentioned maybe an animal charity as she realsied a lot of animals have been injured and lost.
Apart from the obvious ones (Red Cross, Vinnies, Salvos), does anyone here have any suggestions?
I am on facebook and have seen lots of people asking for items/donations but I am just not sure how many are legit or not. Maybe all of them are, but i am a bit lost as to what to suggest to her.

It is not correct ele.....it was announced that the money would be made available to all states.....which is why I mentioned them.
It is the same with the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital

NSW animal rescue organisation WIRES has confirmed it will be helping animal charities across Australia in the wake of the bushfire crisis.
The Sydney-based Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service only handles animal rescues in NSW.
But the charity, which has raised almost $14 million with the help of celebrity call outs from the likes of actor Margot Robbie, has confirmed the cash will be spread across Australia.

Thanks, Lyndal and Domino. Facebook is not the most reliable source of information.
