Was it a split second situation?

Some poor woman was at work and heard the news about her daughter getting shot.  The girl has Asbergers and although a Taser was drawn in readiness to use a constable beat the taser by using bullets first.    Onlookers, including the woman who first called police and recorded the events said it was all over about 45 seconds after the police arrived.

Capsicum spray and a taser were used in failed attempts to subdue the woman - the former rendered ineffective by the woman's glasses.

Later reports and eye witnesses contradict earlier reports that state a taser was used.

She was wandering around with a large kitchen knife looking dazed and confused, according to one who called the police and then waited and watched as events unfolded.

The police refuse to confirm a taser was used until after an investigation.

A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a woman during a confrontation with police.

Police were called to the intersection of Cowpasture and Hoxton Park roads at West Hoxton about 11.45am today (Tuesday 10 February 2015).

A woman, who had a knife in her possession, was injured following a confrontation with police.

The woman, who is believed to be in her early twenties, was assessed on site by Ambulance Paramedics but died at the scene.

A critical incident team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and assisted by investigators from South West Metropolitan Region will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident, including the woman’s actions prior to police intervention and the discharge of a firearm.

That investigation will be overseen by the Professional Standards Command.

All information will be provided to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death and make any findings about the events leading to the woman’s death.

No further details are available at this time; however, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who can assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
