Catholic Baptism question

My Granddaughter is to be baptised at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. As I am not a religious follower I would like to know if I am required to wear a hat and if trousers are ok or do I need to wear a skirt. My DIL said that it would be formal dress. In other words don,t let the side down. This woman knows her MIL 's poor dress style:^O

I wouldn't wear a dress to please others. Nice black pants and a nice top/jacket would do me. As long as it's clean and paid for:^O

My nanna always wore her Sunday best, a nice coat and a hat and gloves.  That's how she found out my mum was smoking.

Mum had borrowed her gloves to wear when she was having a ciggie because she didn't want to get yellow fingers but nanna smelt it when she was praying in church.
