the Pope picture is a really cheap and nasty shot at a man who was loved and
respected by millions, Catholic or otherwise. It just shows the ignorance and need
for attention by some.
Except for the church that Az goes to which sounds to be traditional and slightly apart
from the mainstream (because of the the Latin liturgy) you would wear whatever
you like within reason, and aimed to suit the occasion, not the church. Rules of dress
are totally relaxed nowadays. No, women do not wear hats.
And yes, they wear slacks if they want to, as well as miniskirts. Gloves, no. Mantillas, no. :^O . .

what about weddings? would you disregard what's written on the invitation?
I don't do formal. I can dress well if I have to. Really, since when does one dress formal for church.............and have you seen how some people dress to go to flash occasions, some do leave a bit to be desired.
Lucky I don't move in circles that require formal wear.;-) Oh and just for the record, No I am not a bogan. lol.

Does formal necessarily mean a dress?
and I don't actually go to that particular Church Bright....... my grandaughter goes to the school and hence, the Church, on the grounds, for school related things.

its not so much getting dressed formal for church as it is for the occassion. would you not dress appropriately for a wedding just because it was at a church? sometimes ya just have to do the polite thing and dress as requested. you don't want to be the odd one out on the photos 😉
maybe the reception is at a posh place.

It usually does. The length of the dress would depend on the time of day.

Lots of women wear dressy pants, nice top to weddings.
