A story in the Herald Sun today, about how the church covered up the abuse by it's priests for many years, moving this priest from parish to parish. It breaks my heart to think about these poor children (now adults) who had to endure this abuse for so many years and the people that should be protecting them protected the guilty.....I hope that Priest never sees the light of day again. How could the church not think that this was a reportable offence? It's a crime committed! Some of the parents also did not want to know about it. I had recently read a book about a mother who sent her three girls to a catholic school, two of them abused by the same priest, the older one taking her own life (after multiple unsuccesful attempts) and the younger turned to alchol and was hit by a car. The church offered them $50,000-00! No compassion, just take this and be quiet. More people need to be held accountable for this.

Just to get a broad perspective have a read of what went on in the Anglican church. there is a Royal Commission looking into
it now.

I just can't understand how they never acted on this? To just move them to another church? What were they thinking? All above covering up, what about the innocent children. Someone once said to me, "oh it's because they can't marry". rubbish, you don't become a paedophile because you can't marry or have a relationship.

It is what it was......... given that the mother of one of the victims didn't go to the police and the father didn't want to know about it, it confirms that they just had no idea what to do at the time.
Marriage .......and pedophiles........ well, we know that is not true.

The church is a business and has a brand that needs to be protected.
Overly simplified and heartless reason, but pretty much true.
I'm surprised these catholics are not scared of what awaits in Hell for the involvement.

Given that they committed crime/s and didn't uphold their vows, why would they? obviously they lied about who they are.

They are not beyond the law though? These priests should have been reported to the police. There is a book out called Hell on the way to Heaven, it is written by the mother of the two girls that were abused in Melbourne, a hard read, but nothing compared to the life that poor family have lived because of the priest and the cover up by many. I was furious reading that book, and then to see that in the paper today, which is another priest just makes my blood boil.

So in the case of child abuse the catholics are worse than the anglicans? Sounds like catholic bashing and very one-eyed. Did anyone read the link in #2? I mean - really read it?

Add the Salvation Army to that. I was one of their childhood victims.

So sorry to hear that Jean.
I also hear that Jewish care here is under close scrutiny for abuse in the past. I don't have the link but anyone can find it.
