Coffee Splatter on Screen

Okay Foxy - I know you are out there, what do I do to fix it ?

Only it wasn't coffee, it was wine, and not just the screen, the whole laptop copped it.

Any remedies ????

Oh dear, I am tempted to quote your own signature to you!:^O

Turn it off, then run cold water over it and leave it upside down for at least 24 hours to dry.

Do not turn it on until every last drop of water has dripped out.

Turn it on using battery power only and it all goes well then go ahead with using it.

If there are any weird problems turn off and leave to dry for another 24 hours and so on.

sorry I forgot to say that a clean water only spray bottle or gentle squirting with a sports bottle is best.

greencat - oh dear, done a similar thing myself

I wouldn't advise putting anymore liquid on the machine, not even water.

the key thing to do is do something STRAIGHT AWAY !! and get as much liquid off the machine as you can NOW THIS MINUTE

if you google clean a spill on a laptop or something like that - there is very helpful detailed information on steps to follow to minimise risk of damage.

good luck 😐

Is it on the inside or the outside of the screen ....

I find my biggest problem is the flying pigs that seem to keep splattering against the screen from the inside (especially when I'm consulting with ebay help).

But if the splatters are on the outside:

1. Stop reading jokes while you are in front of the screen (which also includes reading replies from ebay help)

2. Stop drinking while you are on the computer if you can't handle surprises (especially if you are accesssing eBay help)

Apart from that - one of those cleaning kits from OfficeWorks might be useful, and glad wrap might be a useful alternative.

the wine will do a lot of damage and clear clean water is the quickest safest way to rinse off the wine.

I have done it several times and it works like a charm everytime.

You have to get he wine off the laptop because of the "whatevers" that are in wine.

if you are going to squirt the laptop with water I would have the screen and keyboard laying horizontal facing downwards then use one of those sport water bottles to squirt upwards onto the puter.  Any excess water is immediately subjected to gravity and would fall away from the puter rather than flowing into every nook and cranny.  Make a 'tent' shape out of your laptop and place it on a towel in a warm place while all excess water evaporates (on top of fridge might be warm enough to help speed up the drying process - or your water heater if it is indoors).

OR . . . . let the cat body heat warm the laptop after squirting
