I suspect this will probably turn out to be a false alarm, but if not, it opens a very big can of worms..

Thanks John, I knew I could rely on you for a dose of cold hard common sense.
The conspiracy theorists are already having a field day with it of course.
The Malaysian flag "found" in the wreckage apparently measured 70 inches by 35 inches. How extraordinarily convenient that such a large flag 'just happened' to be on board and 'just happened' to survive the crash.

I thought they meant the flag painted on the side of the plane.
Already the story is changing chines whisper style

One Jamil Omar had lodged a report at the Sandakan police station claiming that a family member discovered the wreckage in a forest at Pulau Sugbay, Tawi-Tawi in the Philippines early September.
The report also claimed human skeletal remains and a 70-inch by 35-inch Malaysian flag were inside the plane.

If they found it in early september, I wonder if it took them a month to hack their way back out of the jungle

Flag printed on side - with truck, and people to show scale.
That's not a small piece of aluminium to have to cut away. Maybe he had an angle grinder...?

there are many different sources
but most probably they meant the
flag was part of the plane.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the report was lodged by a civilian who claimed that his aunt allegedly found a piece of aircraft wreckage with a Malaysian flag, about 70 inch long and 35 inch wide, as well as skeletal remains inside the plane at Sugbay Island, Tawi-Tawi, in southern Philippines.

OK - I get all that.
But you can't start throwing in stuff without a link.
It's too confusing.
Now I know why I don't go on these threads
