Cyclone Winds at ......

ABC24 now reporting in yellow across the screen that Cyclone Lam winds are travelling at 16kph (yep sixteen).

How can such an error be made by the ABC?

....oh, now it's been taken off screen.

Thanks Richo for the info.

The headline omitted the word "centre" which has caused this dilemma in my mind.

Will look into my Geography lessons after the nana nap.

That's one of the dangers of them .DEB, they go quiet in the centre and people can think it's all over and venture out, only to find it comes back again with a force, ( the other side of it)

It doesn't need to include the word centre.

When they say it's moving at 19kph it means that's the speed it's moving across the terrain.  The Qld one was moving at 25kph earlier.  They report those speeds so people have an idea of how soon it will be upon them.

A friend of mine was on a yacht in the Caribbean when they got hit by a hurricane. He said it was bizarre when the eye was over them. The ocean seemed to be vibrating. Second scariest thing he's ever encountered he said, after marriage 🙂
