Tax is what labour governments used to support people who don't work.
and the Fiberals use to support the wealthy who don't work.

A form of Economic Abuse, nethertheless.

We can't trust the free enterprise economic system to build our infrastructure, to deliver education or health care or to supply the military defences our country needs . . . well, we could but it would cost the average person soooo much to buy these services that this person would probably be uneducated, sick and huddling in a cave somewhere.
So we probably do need some measure of taxation. But what we don't need is that tax to be gathered from those who are poor or even modestly "getting by" while those who can most afford to pay these taxes can also afford to dodge and duck and weave and wriggle, courtesy of pricy legal advice so as to avoid paying almost anything, leaving the burden of taxation for the rest of us to carry.
The form of economic abuse which taxation takes is that it taxes the relatively poor people the most, while the relatively wealthy people in society avoid paying their fair share.
The trickle-down economic theory has been proven not to work for the benefit of society as a whole, but is only of benefit to those who are already wealthy.
We do need taxation, but we need those who have the most to not pay the relative least. You know it makes sense.

I understand why there are taxes and what they are (supposed) to be used for, this is not a point in dispute but
I don't see any sense in lying to 23 million people after you have made promises to them.
This latest tactic by Abbott is hypocritical. .....sounds like a 'mining tax' actually!
I do not know that it makes sense at all.
Those that have been targeted to pay this 'levy' or 'tax' will not see the sense in making any effort at all to work hard or make their money work hard in the future to make extra money-this reaction and attitude would make perfect sense.
....there are needs and there are wants in this world. This levy idea is not a need, it is a greedy want.
