Before I am kicked off of the board for good, thought I'd create a non political post.
So, do you make your pancakes from scratch or a do you buy a fill and shake bottle from the supermarket?
Also.....how important is maple syrup? Too American or too tasty?
Easy cleanup is my choice so I just buy the maple or banana flavored and fill it with water and woolah.
Bananas/whipped cream and maple syrup!

drizzle with melted chocolate/ganache, add strawberries and raspberries, maybe some double cream, sprinkle with icing sugar and Bob's your Uncle.
yummo
Ack! Too much, too rich, Uncle Bob not required.

I make crepes not pancakes, as I like the egg in crepes and I have convinced myself it is a healthier option. Sometimes I make savoury pancakes as a quick and easy meal.
Crepes and pancakes are so simple to make....I don't see why you'd bother to do a shake and mix!

We are all so sick of politics and the latest look at me nutter we have now 22 posts on pancakes.
Here is my recipe.
1 cup of self raising flour
1-1/2 cups of milk
2 eggs
pinch of salt
Sift flour and salt. Make well in centre of bowl and add eggs and milk. Mix together well. Stand for at least one hour. (Or do it the night before and cover with cling wrap until the morning).
Stir again and add more milk if mixture has thickened too much Should be the consistency of cream and pour easily.
Pan should be fairly hot but not red hot. Obviously butter must be used to oil the pan.
Use Ladle to poor in crepe mixture and then swirl the pan to coat it. Leave it for a while and then turn. Each crepe should only take a minute or three to make.

Pancakes are like Pizza. Less is more.
Pancakes with a little sugar and a little lemon juice sprinkled on, then rolled up. 'Course, I only ever eat them on Shrove Tuesday. ;\

Hubby is canadian so pancakes with maple syrup are a staple in our household.
We buy the 'fill and shake' with the buttermilk. The pancakes role is to be fluffy enough to soak in the topping.
The topping is the most important and it has to be Grade B Canadian which is really dark and thick. Our syrup is home made that his aunt sends us from Canada. But otherwise we used to get a brand sent over called Jakes I think.
American maple syrup is never the real stuff - it is usually corn syrup and sugar.

I used to make my own from scratch, but now I use the shakers, Lemon juice and icing sugar is a favourite with my family, or maple syrup.
I also used to make a savoury one, a bit like chilli con carne wrapped in pancakes, I'd forgotten about that, might do them again soon

We make our own. My younger boy is lactose intolerant, so we use lactose free milk.
I have tried several shaker ones and dislike them all.
On them I like maple syrup or Lemon & honey. Son likes to pour caramel syrup on his.

I have done both, and I find the shaker mix very dry. Much prefer the from scratch ones. Maple syrup and cream are a must. :^O
