Does your Family Know

What your wishes are if you get terminally ill or die suddenly. ??

My friend is trying to get this information out of her partner who has just been diagnosed with cancer, The doctor has told him to make sure the family know his wishes.

He is refusing to let her know.

Yes. Youcandoit, we are both content with the descission we have made. The place is even more beautiful than the photo. It was early morning before the sun was fully up.

I will be happy when my spirit can float around the Rainforest, all the great lakes and waterfalls and among the birds and native animals.

I don't believe in gravestones with fancy lettering. I believe that once we die our flesh and bones will rot away, but our saul and spirit lives on outside the confinements of a box. If family and friends want to remember me with fondness and love, or blame me for things I have only done wrong in their minds, they will not have to make special trips to a Cemetary.

Cheers, Erica

I also share in your belief re gravestones Erica..My youngest dd has my OH ashes as she feels the need to have her dad with her..strange to some but it works out ok with us all..my oldest dd still has his hospital o/night suitcase that is packed with his hairbrush,pj`s etc it is a comfort for her.I won`t go into detail with  what I still have...too muchSmiley SadI have my mother`s ashes in my wardrobe...strange lot we are!!lol

and to be on topic I DO HAVE my wishes known to my girls..

Nic,

When the time is right, your daughter and you, will scattter the ashes...........and no you nor your daughter are strange..Everyone is different.

My sister in law only scattered her husband ashes last year and he died in 2004, they were scattered at a beach that he loved.

There is no time frame for when you do it, and only do it when the time is right.

With Tim, I thought I would never do it, I couldnt let him go, but after 4yrs I did, and now he is not far from where I live, and I can go and visit him....

Re: Does your Family Know

My dear mum has written it all down. Different scenarios and her response. She has signed dated and had it witnessed. She has given copies to several of her children. This is in response to my father who had major problems for several years following a stroke.

Nic you can get small cremation urns and also neck laces these days so you can always keep a small part with you and place the remaining ashes where ever.

the ashes can also be sent to the US and they can turn them into a diamond that can then be fitted to a ring.

I feel the exact same way.

I want my funeral to be done as cheaply as possible. No newspaper announcements. Those who know me will be told of my demise by my remaining family.

No flowers. I don't want floral tributes when money could be better spent, perhaps a donation to a worthy cause I support instead.

Cheapest coffin.

Cremation.

No niche in the wall for my ashes. Scatter them in the ocean. I've always loved the sea and the sound of the waves, smell of the salt air.

One doesn't need to visit a gravestone to remember those they loved so much when alive.

I haven't visited my parents plots in years now, but not a day goes by that I don't think of them and miss them.

My mum and her sister when she died, didnt have a funeral, the body was just send for cremation. The crematory let the family know when they were going to cremate them, and the family just got together at the time.

The ashes were released to the family in about 4 weeks............very cheap my mum's was $1800 and her sisters was $2000, there was no funeral costs, no nothing, that is what they wanted.
