Earwig Invasion

The last few weeks I have been inundated with earwigs, they're everywhere.  I wouldn't say it's a plague, as such, but there are lots of them inside the house mostly around the kitchen sink.  So far I have been bitten (or stung?) twice and inadvertently swallowed one (little bugger was swimming in my drink and I didn't notice him until too late X-()

What are they coming in for?  And how do I get rid of the damn things?

Baby Galahs and cockatoos are the worst!

They sound like someone is slaughtering them.

Well, you learn something new every day. I had no idea earwigs could bite and thought those pincers were just for show.  I googled though,  and yes they can - though it's actually  a nip not a bite or a sting - but they aren't venomous. Apparently their nips can be quite painful though.

Crystal, it was very bizarre last night. Not five minutes after I asked to swap your crickets for my earwigs, I went into the kitchen, not a single earwig.... but one baby cricket in the sink!

I tried to catch him for Screech (orphaned Tawny Frogmouth I am raising until release), now after reading they are good luck, I am glad he managed to hop away from me!

We have been inundated with a variety of bugs , insects last year and this year, we have had ants, house flys, pumpkin beetles, snails, and some other kind of bug which i forgot its name ripped through our choko vine just when it was fruiting  just only to name a few, the most strange part is we have not had any mozzies this summer and no blow flies either ,  which is not a bad thing

I took my dog to the vet today for treatment for a flea bite allergy and she said that the fleas are really bad at the moment and most treatments are having breakthrough flea infestations.

I have been using Frontline Plus for years and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with fleas on the dog.

As well as antibiotics and prednisone I was told to use the next Frontline dose a week earlier than due.

BTW how big is an earwig?
