How to Reduce Stress

Stress is an inevitable part in our normal life. Many kinds of things, such as natural disasters, war and death can cause too much stress in our life. But according to a psychologist, on a day-to-day basis, stress may result from the small things: taking an exam, waiting in line, and having too many things to do in a limited time.

We all need stress to add flavor, challenge, and opportunity to life, but too much stress can seriously affect our physical and mental well-being, It reduces the body's immunity and harms the brain, If the stress lasts a long time, it may cause physical illness, insomnia, headaches, backaches, ulcers, high blood pressure-even heart disease.

When stress does occur, it's important to recognize and deal with it. There ore some methods we can try. A large number of physical activities can reduce anxiety. Sharing our stress with others can be enormously helpful. Making time for fun such as listening to music may be good medicine. Sometimes even crying is an efficient way to release stress.

Re: How to Reduce Stress

A difficulty with stress is that it is relative. A particular threat to one person may cause minimal stress, but extreme stress in another person. High levels of stress can interfere with our ability to think and some people can freeze or panic. It is important not to judge their reaction by the nature of the threat or the stressor, because as mentioned, it is a personal reaction and the stress is very real.

Identifying the known causes of personal stress and the early warning signs can be very helpful. Early intervention by taking actions that have proven to be helpful for you can prevent an increase in stress. Some relaxation techniques have proven to work in individuals, but often (sometimes with help) we can identify specific things to do that work for us.

Stress can be managed so it is less debilitating. Often, it is those close to us who can offer tremendous advice on how our individual stress levels manifest.

Not necessarily.

Many kinds of things, such as natural disasters, war and death can cause too much stress in our life.

Perhaps mistaking - stress - for - distress.

But according to a psychologist, on a day-to-day basis, stress may result from the small things: taking an exam,  only if not prepared for said exam to the best of your ability - waiting in line, leave enough time and having too many things to do in a limited time - delegate - or - don't allow yourself to run out of time - like get off your phone & bum.

We all need stress - something - to add flavor, challenge, and opportunity to life,  - we all need excitement - difference - challenges - agree - but too much stress can seriously affect our physical and mental well-being, It reduces the body's immunity and harms the brain, If the stress lasts a long time, it may cause physical illness, insomnia, headaches, backaches, ulcers, high blood pressure-even heart disease.

Sorry but - bla bla bla

When stress does occur, it's important to recognize and deal with it.

And understand there was always something you could have done to prevent it - stress - that is - not distress.

And thinking about most stressful situations - they always have an outcome - good or bad - so why stress - do all you can to prevent a bad outcome - but - if the bad outcome was unavoidable - the stress proved useless.

There ore some methods we can try. A large number of physical activities can reduce anxiety. Sharing our stress with others can be enormously helpful. Making time for fun such as listening to music may be good medicine. Sometimes even crying is an efficient way to release stress.

Now we are onto - anxiety - sheesh.

Self control - get anxious - get over it.

Be a responsible adult.

This is totally based on non medical problems - which some do suffer -  medical advice should be sought.

Re: How to Reduce Stress

As not_for_sale said, stress is personal, and it is important to identify the factors that cause stress in our lives. What can help us relieve stress is also personal. For some it can be a walk in nature in solitude, for others a drink with friends in a pub. Totally different things.

It is important not to judge without knowing the whole story or knowing people, for example by ridiculing the cause of their stress or what they do to fight against it.

Sometimes following other people's advice can be helpful, but it is also really important to understand oneself - and to help oneself in the best possible way (as long as stress has not become a serious medical condition - I mean normal stress in everyday life).

Re: How to Reduce Stress

This is a fascinating topic.

Some sorts of stress are not harmful, although they might be acute. It’s when stress becomes chronic that it is most likely to lead to adverse outcomes.

Of course, what’s called “toxic stress” is not good. In the literature it’s under the banner of three possible types of stress:

   • strong

   • prolonged, and/or

   • frequent.

Stress that is associated with performance or achievement doesn’t come under the toxic types, and is associated with increased alertness, brief increases of heart rate, and mild hormone level elevation. Performers will always experience this sort of stress. So will people interviewing for a new job, undertaking exams, working on an important project.

This is such an interesting area that I would like to study it further.

There are of course the stresses that come from things that inflict emotional pain, and I know all of us will have had some of that in our lives. Grieving for the death of a loved one is an ongoing stress; losing a child; failing in an important endeavour; having a serious fight with someone close to you; relationship/marriage breakdown; physical injury/trauma; I won’t go on. I cannot minimise the pain and stress caused. These are stresses that might cause longer-lasting issues.

Yes, I should study the field of stress more thoroughly.
