Catherine Weingarted and Endangered Bodies.
Petition · Facebook: Remove the "Feeling Fat" Emoticon #FatisNotaFeeling · Change.org
Scrolling through Facebook the other day, I saw a friend’s status set to “feeling fat,” accompanied by an emoji with chubby cheeks and a double chin. I think it was supposed to be funny, but seeing this status made me feel angry.
As someone who has struggled with and overcome disordered eating, I know what it’s like to “feel” fat.
I have spent years of my life consumed with negative thoughts about my body, and far too many days starving myself in an effort to lose weight. But even worse than the skipped meals and the hours spent obsessing in front of the mirror was the fear of what others thought about me and my body.
When Facebook users set their status to “feeling fat,” they are making fun of people who consider themselves to be overweight, which can include many people with eating disorders. That is not ok. Join me in asking Facebook to remove the “fat” emoji from their status options.
Fat is not a feeling. Fat is a natural part of our bodies, no matter their weight. And all bodies deserve to be respected and cared for.
Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the world right now. With 890 million users each day, it has the power to influence how we talk to each other about our bodies. I dream that one day the platform will actively encourage body positivity and self-esteem among its users, but for now, all I ask is that it stop endorsing self-destructive thoughts through seemingly harmless emojis.
Oh please, Catherine. Perhaps get off Facebook and get a real life you might not be so "consumed with negative thought's" about your body.

Icy
I could think of a suitable location where a suppository goes, that is quite large by the amount of noise
that comes out of it

Which doesn't mean I shouldn't post it. Facebook posts and replies belong on Facebook.
Would you post the above comment on Catherine's face book page?

Since when did you become judge and jury of what is and isn't suitable to be posted on here ?
Your as bad as some of those from the Suicide thread that started dictating what can and
can't be posted any by whom.

I don't think I've ever tried to dictate where and what you, or anyone else, should post. Unlike yourself.
I do however, suggest you endeavour to stay on topic.

If you look at the link, my post actually came from a news item, and it was ABOUT A FACEBOOK PETITION!

Of course I would, if I came across it on FB. What makes you think I wouldn't? Matter of fact, I probably will. On Twitter too.

factor that

The "fly" perspictive- No one's self immage or how they may have overcame it, gives them license to tell others how to express themselves.

I have a better idea, don't visit Facebook anymore, factor that.

I don't like Facebook, don't visit it, because it's not what I look for in a discussion chat forum. Maybe it has something to do with it being way too in my face, or too complicated to navigate and understand, that identy verification also really erked me.
Don't worry about what 890 million people are doing, be your own person, be happy and know that no matter how bad you might feel about yourself in any given moment, theres someone feeling worse about themself. Perhaps this is Catherine's way of making it not such a big issue or problem for them. People deal with the same thing things in diffrent ways, theres no one size fits all.

I never intimated that you wouldn't. I asked you if you could (if you are able to post on that person's FB) or would.
It would have more affect posted on that persons fb page.
If everyone started posting facebook stories/posts here don't you think that would be 'dumbing down' info posted?
Aren't the CS posters opinions enough on thread topics? Without adding unknown fb people's opinions?
