Ok. So we're all staying home, wearing masks when we go out, sanitising surfaces, madly washing hands.
How else are you coping?
Had to go to the post office this arvo as I had a cpl of sales on Ebay, having to send parcels. Bloody lined up for half a block because they were only allowing 8 customers in at any given time.
Staff are all behing perspex screens. Sheesh!
How's everyone else getting along?

It does beg the question - and it has happened here.
What were they thinking.
We are at a stage where we need - Front Door - Doggy Doors.

Your message made me realise that when you have a strong will you will get there in the end!(and made me sad too) Stay strong xx

I don't know if I am strong. What I am is ANGRY.
Angry at the supermarkets for their delivery inconsistecies, angry at delivery methods that leave the screen door firmly closed with the bags on the other side.....unless I can point out the obvious and make them see sense, angry at people online who think my issues are trivial, angry that I have to explain in detail all the reasons why it is an issue (live alone, neighbours unavailable, council won't help as I'm under 65, no family living nearby.....and so it goes on).
A brave strong fearless saint I am not. I'm a crabby annoyed person.

Can you put a note on the door or in the delivery instruction to state that the screen door has to be open for
you to access the groceries.
Is there a way to keep it open temporarily whilst they put the groceries down.

Even an instruction note on the wall next to the door that they would see as they walk up may suffice maybe.

But it sound like you have reason to be and it can be very frustrating when people just don't seem to listen
to what you believe are simple necessities.

I used to write just basic delivery instructions as part of the ordering process - groceries and takeaway - but lately I've been expanding on my requirements, including explaining why.
Some don't bother to read the instructions (I hate to say it but those are usually men), some don't care (the 'letter of the law / all I'm required to do' type), some don't speak English very well so maybe they don't read it so well either, and some just don't notice. Also there is a limit to how much detail I can put before the person at the door loses interest in reading it.
The screen door has one of those spring closing gizmos but even with using my walking stick I can't slide it across to keep the door open. It is VERY stiff. I've also tried it with a broom handle but it doesn't seem to 'catch' the thing to move it, because of the rounded handle end I guess.
I already have a sign on the front door not to leave parcels (because the house is only a few metres from the footpath) and on occasions it has been ignored. I've also got a big sign re Safe Drop deliveries near the back door. Without the sign spelling it out the safe drop spot is SO obvious anyway. But every so often I am confronted by a nice heavy parcel left right in front of the closed screen door.
I used to get deliveries from one of those ready meals delivery companies. They were also expected to collect the empty box. The customers' delivery instructions were always printed out and stuck on the boxes. I would also leave the empty box exactly where the new one had to be put just in case my notes weren't clear. All went well until the deliveries changed to around 4am where there were no annoying customers to catch them out. Old boxes were left wedged in the doorway with the heavy full one behind it, and in one case a full box was left nowhere near the back door....and open to the morning sun. That was my last delivery! I told the company what I thought of them and haven't placed an order since.
You can lead a person to delivery instructions.....but you can't make them read 'em.

So I went up to Woolies to get some. The usual security gaurds at the door telling you where you can enter and where to exit. Sheesh.
Anyway, things didn't bode well when I came to the greens shelf, nut much there, no lettuce no spinach, no leeks etc.
Walked along and found 1 sad and droopy lonely little celery bunch on the shelf. Naturally, I snapped it up.
Got to the express checkout, the place was choc-a-bloc.
Put it through..$7.90!!!!!
For a sad and withered little bunch of celery!
The soup turned out ok.
Ya should have swung by my place Icy, I would have given you a bunch of celery, have more than I know what to do with atm
WOW, nice soil. looks like you put plenty of composted materials into it judging by the soil structure or is that freshly laid compost in the foreground ?

Deliveries to the door, such a simple thing and so difficult to manage the result for some. Sigh.
Last year when I could not pick up anything from the ground without my claws/grabber, I put a small table on the front veranda and made a large sign for delivery guys to leave it here. Now, after my 2 operation, I can pick up things off the ground, but it is still better when it is on the table.

I was also making soup, mine was Minestrone, my daughter got for me 1/2 celery for $7.50 from the cheap Asian store! At least it was nice and fresh.

I am busier than ever. I am knitting a jumper, that takes couple of hours every day. Then I try to spend another couple of hours through the day taming my feral garden, which is a total mess as I was unable to do much there for few year, and last year I had 2 hip operations and another spell in the hospital, and only now I am able to actually do something. In between I have been making masks for myself and family members. When i finish knitting i have some lovely fabrics that I want to make trousers out of. The kitchen windows need to be painted from inside. I would really like to paint my sewing room, but it is big and has large heavy wall units, which are full all sort of handcrafts treasures... Then there are stacks of books I have not read, and some that I did read but would like to read again. Then I want to plant more veggies.............
My chickens arrived, and so I have been doing last minute preparation, like making sure the latch is secure. Then it took me last night half an hour to get them into their house to lock them up. Lot of sympathy for the Tower of London Raven Master who has to round up the ravens and lock them up for the night.
In between I talk to friends on the phone or exchanching messages, emails, photos ....etc. Last night I read my book till 2am
