Masterchef 2018

I like Masterchef better than the other cooking comps.

Great way to start this season rather than the mass single tasks they used to do.

Now every hopeful contestant gets 1 hour to cook a dish tasted by the 3 judges.

With second chance contestants cooking for a blind tasting.

24 contestants get an apron. Smiley Very Happy

Glad I cheated and looked up the results last night - the advantage/disadvantage of the two hour time difference Smiley LOL

So pleased with the results ..... Kopes do you happen to know Jess?  Thought you might have 'met' her in the restaurant she worked at before MC started.

Anti-social media at it again with their comments about the Indian Chef - pathetic.  Some folks are never happy unless they have something to criticise or debunk (laughing as I am saying this as it is just what I am doing here right now lol).  Love that butter chicken and MIGHT try some elements of his recipe when making my own .... don't think I will be smoking the butter though.  Gave that up 18 months ago Smiley Wink

No, I haven't met her lane.

She was just my fave when I saw all the contestants at the start.

Found out she was only 19 and saw some of the desserts she made at home. Wow.

I might try the butter chicken recipe as well.

Although it appears exact ingredients are kept secret.

She certainly is talented and is seemingly blessed with a lovely personality and disposition too.

The recipe in it's entirety is available Koops - check out this link:

Did I misunderstand you when you said the exact ingredients are kept secret?  If so, I am sorry

Thanks, when I looked last night it wasn't there and all the others only gave rough estimates.

I must have looked too soon on the Masterchef website.

Yes, the right person went home.  Phew!  You're right, it was too close for comfort.

Springy, I think you've got it turned around.

The other night Sashi was making some kind of bread and said 'Thanks Sami' (meaning Samira) for showing him a quick and easy way.

I think when they invent outrage it's a slow news day

Oh dear. I knew I had heard words to that effect somewhere, anyway.Smiley Happy

I think of sashi as the king of that Indian style cooking, though I think Chloe has a fair bit of experience too.

As for a 10 minute cooking challenge. I'd be lucky to get them all up a cheese toastie in that time.

Lucky I'm watching the show and not on it.Smiley Very Happy

Did anyone actually see Prince Charles eat any of the canapes?

He probably doesn't eat much in the way of finger food at those types of functions as he has to keep mingling.

I didn't, but I dare say he would have if he was enjoying a drink.

Unless security are worried he might get sick.

That was a nice episode and good of His Royal Highness to spend time talking with the judges n contestants.

He appears to be a very good conversationalist.

Some great canapes made too. Made me want to eat some.

The canapes were amazing & made under trying conditions, too.

I also thought Prince Charles was very gracious-so nice to include the contestants and thank them.

Camilla I know has had a lot of bad press in the past but it always strikes me that she is very suited to Charles, just right for him. I've enjoyed listening to her son Tom on the other cooking show. They must be a family that enjoys cooking.

I have met Prince Charles and he is just as he came across on the show.....a very good communicator.

It was the year he got engaged to Diana and he came out here a couple of weeks later.  He was going to open the Royal Easter Show....I had just been rounding up a group of kids who were in the Grand Parade and was making a dash for the stands to watch it when the police stopped all movement near the entrance to the stands where I was heading.

I was spitting chips until I realised I was going to be within touching distance of the Prince.

The formalities were late starting because Prince Charles had difficulty moving, despite his police escort and cleared path.   He was inundated by questions (a lot from children) about Diana and he answered them all with a very good grace.  I was very impressed.

I think he has a lot of time for Australia and Australians.....and he probably understands us better than many members of the Royal Family.   He often talks about his time at school at Timbertop.
