I like Masterchef better than the other cooking comps.
Great way to start this season rather than the mass single tasks they used to do.
Now every hopeful contestant gets 1 hour to cook a dish tasted by the 3 judges.
With second chance contestants cooking for a blind tasting.
24 contestants get an apron.

Good food, good cause and good results.
Well, this I didn't expect -
SpoilerSashi through to finals. I really thought he would be one of the next 3 to go.
Yes, they raised a lot of money for a good cause.
I'm not surprised in the least about Sashi. He is a strong contender, especially now that he has shown he can do a dessert.
My only doubt about him is we haven't heard a lot about his plans to open a restaurant etc and the Masterchef judges seem to go for winners who are young and trying to get into the industry.
The episode was interesting on a number of levels. I know things get edited to the nth degree but George seemed to be on Ben's back a lot. I got the feeling he was not confident Ben could come up with an idea. Ben made George nervous, in other words. So I think George sees Ben as a weak link.
Much, much more relaxed with Khanh. We'll see Khanh in the finals, all things being equal, and quite possibly the overall winner.
Jess- she was lucky it wasn't actually an elimination round as she would have gone. But notice how George helped her along at the start-'You could do a delicious puree or... this or that'. No such help to Ben.
They want Jess through to the finals and I think she will get there, but I don't think she will take first spot.
Chloe did well, and without help. Reece, I don't see him winning it either.

I was just thinking- if you look over the series as a whole, who are some of the people they have shown a lot making comments.
Sashi has been shown consistently right through the series. Maybe that is partly because he is lively and entertaining, but I have a theory it is like The Bachelor show & if they fly under the radar on screen, then they are for the chop somewhere along the line.
The ones who seem to have been shown fairly regularly making comments are (as far as I can recall) Sashi, Jess, Reece and Khanh.
Ben not so much.

Disappointed Reece is gone before Ben n Chloe.
The ignorance n youth in Jess showed to not be able to distinguish feta cheese, lol.
Top 5 with finals week coming up.
I didn't really like the way they were eliminated as tasting things is not the same as cooking and if you have a cold or anything else it is a much harder task.
I thought Ben was given a head start as chocolate is an easy one. Feta, not quite as straight forward. Mind you, I wouldn't think it would taste anything like parmesan!!
Ben I think will go out, Chloe might surprise us.

I had to watch 2 shows back to back to catch up.
I was sweating blood with Jess' cook. Very worried at the time.
Not fussed that Reece has gone, but wished it was Ben instead. Or Sashi
I'm hoping for a Jess vs Kanh final, but Chloe might do a 'Stephen Bradbury' and
find herself in it.
I also don't know how you confuse parmesan with fetta. Forget taste, fetta is a soft cheese.

Sashi deserves his place in the finals, he has been consistently good throughout the series.
Whether he will win or not I don't know. He has his weaknesses, but then, they all do.
I'm not hearing much about how he wants to open a food shop so that's a worry. They like to pick rising stars.
As for feta versus parmesan. Yes, feta is soft and crumbly, it is strange Jess would say parmesan as we often seem to see a bit of parmesan grated over some of the dishes. Maybe not hers though. There are obviously gaps in her repertoire but then again, at 19 I was lucky if i could make much more than soup & sandwiches.
Her last 2 cooks have not been winning level though.
How Ben got this far has surprised me. He always seems a bit bumbling.

Ben seems to be all good looks and not much else!! He seems to be always going for elimination but seems to get through.
Mind you, my cooking skills are not good on a brilliant day, so I really should not critisise others.
I'm pretty much the same, but we're allowed to be picky when it's a TV show.
Most probably if we went to Ben's house for dinner, we would all be super impressed. Any of their houses, for that matter.
Having to rush around under the glare of lights & TV cameras, in a strange kitchen without recipes and under pressure has the potential to make anyone look a bit silly, I guess.
